Brazil vs Argentina

Brazil will try to become the seventh team to win the title at home. France was the last to do it (1998) while Uruguay was the first (1930).

Teams with the least chances of winning the title are Honduras, Costa Rica, Algeria and Iran. Jorge Luis Pinto’s squad seems to have the most difficult picture, as in Group D the will face England, Italy and Uruguay.

Argentine forward Lionel Messi is the favorite to finish as the leading scorer in the tournament. In second place are Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, Brazilian Neymar and Argentine Sergio Aguero, followed by Uruguayan Luis Suarez and Argentine Gonzalo Higuain in third and fourth.

“La Pulga” also tops the list of candidates for Best Player of the Tournament with Real Madrid striker Ronaldo. French Franck Ribery and German Mesut Özil are among the favorites, as well.

Italy, with goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, is considered as the best defense in the tournament, while Brazil ranks first in the list of teams that will finish with more goals.

Although they struggled and got their ticket in the playoffs beating New Zealand, Mexico leads the list to finish as the best team in CONCACAF, ahead of the United States, Costa Rica and Honduras. Miguel Herrera’s team rank 16 to win the World Cup.

The final between Brazil and Argentina is the one that appears most likely, followed by Brazil-Spain, Argentina – Germany and Germany-Spain. A team has not won the title in consecutive years since the Brazilians did it in 1958 and 1962.
